WATERLOO RECORDS – OF THE 1ST (OR) KING’S DRAGOON GUARDS 18TH JUNE 1815
$2.50 – $19.99
This book is about the Officers and Men of the 1st or King’s Dragoon Guards, who took part in the Battle of Waterloo and in the two days leading up to the 18th June 1815. At the start of the battle the regiment numbered 616 Officers and All Ranks. It has not been proven to date that all of them were involved in the charge; the Surgeons and Admin Staff certainly were not, and Regimental Histories claim that the Farriers were charged with taking French prisoners back to Brussels.
What is known is that at the end of the day the regiment numbered just 13 soldiers left on the battlefield, consisting of two Officers, the Regimental Sgt Major, one Sergeant and nine Privates. These Waterloo records where possible include the enlistment date and discharge date of the soldiers, their age, trades, features, and most importantly the injuries they received. Included are their location and death dates where possible, also whether they received the Waterloo Medal. Unfortunately, there are no records available for those soldiers killed in Action.
