Clive J Morris

Clive J Morris, a native of Blaina, South Wales, began his journey into the world of music at the tender age of 10 when he joined the Town Youth Brass Band. His love for music led him to join the regimental band of 1st The Queens Dragoon Guards as a euphonium player on March 23, 1963. During his distinguished 17-year service in the military, Clive had the opportunity to travel extensively, including active service in the Middle East, particularly in Aden from 1966 to 1967.

With an impressive rise in rank to band sergeant, Clive finally bid farewell to the regiment on March 23, 1980. After his military service, he embraced multiple roles, working in the security department of a prominent Football Pools Company while teaching music for the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Youth Music Service. However, his true passion lay in history and preservation, which eventually led him to volunteer at the regimental museum of 1st The Queens Dragoon Guards, where he later became the curator in November 1994.

After dedicating 30 years to the regimental museum, Clive retired on April 30, 2017, focusing his efforts on genealogy and preserving the invaluable records of soldiers who served in the 1st Kings Dragoon Guards and The Queens Bays from 1685 to 1959.
